      Hello Oscar,

that’s really sad to hear but I can understand your decision.

We know the struggles of creating high-quality content ourselves which mostly does not get even close to the attention which crappy modpacks with really ugly images get (of which most don’t even work but still raise thousands of players within hours) these days.

Sometimes it seems like people want bad stuff rather than something fully functional and “perfect” Maybe they can’t handle complimenting someone on his work and rather want to complain …

We will for sure not remove your modpack from our Solder as I see this modpack as a perfect example for the highest quality of modpack you can get theses days.

As you know “our doors are always open to you”! So if you want to get something new started, just let us know

@Bent Yes, however I unfortunately abandoned the project due to my lack of dynamic code knowledge (such as PHP) and the lack of time to learn it. I was working on a Technic Launcher fork and wanted to route API traffic normally but redirect the “Discover” page to a custom one provided by verified pack authors depending on what packs are most frequently launched. The launcher’s design could also be further customised by the pack author (just like you could change your pack’s background image on the Modpacks tab, you could change the blue tab bar to any colour you want). Additionally there were plans to enable installing and launching packs directly from a website with an embeddable one-click button through the use of command line args support.

If anyone has good knowledge with PHP and wants to work on this project, I’d be happy to revive this project and work on the client-side features.

      Hellooo!

Some of you may know me as the author of CraftMine v4 - another similar pack that’s also on the UnitedWorldMiners network.

CraftMine has had exclusive optimisations for years that provide unbelievable benefits and a “wow factor” for new players - you open up a pack with over a 100 mods and it runs better than Vanilla with Optifine without you even touching the settings! Before Rapido it was called “CM SPEEDY”.

Well, today I’m proud to announce that - for the first time ever - I have ported a large part of Rapido to Steve’s Adventure Craft.
What does this mean? HUGE performance benefits with slightly BETTER visuals, on the same hardware! Just look at the results for yourself. :)

      Q) What can I do with higher performance on the same PC?

Crank up the settings more Enjoy higher percieved resolution and render distances with the same settings through the use of Rapido’s psychological tricks Have a smoother experience with less choppiness Never complain about client-side (framerate) lag on the pack again! Play longer on laptops as these improvements also improve power efficiency and therefore battery life

      Q) How can I get these improvements?

The new upcoming Steve’s Adventure Craft 1.3.0.0 update includes Rapido built-in and enabled by default. You’ll notice immediate performance improvements as soon as you update. CraftMine v4 contains a more advanced implementation of Rapido called “Rapido+” which also improves visuals as well as further improves performance slightly over the standard Rapido found in the port for SAC. Just be aware that this is a different pack though and is quite different from SAC in some aspects

Who remembers the good 'ol days of Spoutcraft? You know… that wierd client some Vanilla servers recommended you to use because it allows the server to send mods to the client in realtime whilst still allowing Vanilla clients to connect?

Note: If you’re in a hurry or already know about Spoutcraft, you can skip the “What happened to Spoutcraft?” and “What is Spoutcraft?” bits, they’re just there for people who want to have more context on what Spoutcraft is and how Spoucy is related to it.

      What happened to Spoutcraft?
Spoutcraft eventually got abandoned a few years ago and it was simply because of the way its made. When the “new” Spoutcraft first came out, it was roughly the same time as Minecraft Forge started gaining traction and the plan was the mod developers would all develop “addons” and “plugins” for Spoutcraft (addons being client-side-only mods, plugins being server-side mods that could add client-side content) but unfortunately at the time devs ended up favouring Minecraft Forge instead because of its greater flexibility and faster updates to newer MC versions. Spoutcraft got discontinued when MC1.7 came out because the changes were too huge to do viably, with Spoutcraft being a single fully-fledged jar mod where all the code linked into eachother rather than being modular.

      What is Spoutcraft?
Anyway, enough with the history lesson. Spoutcraft was amazing because it allowed server owners to make their own modpacks in a way except that the users didn’t need to download and install a modpack - they simply join the server and it works! When you wanna switch to a different server powered by Spoutcraft, you can just join that different server without needing to restart the game or launch a different modpack.

      What is Spoucy?
Spoucy is a collection of both privately developed exclusive mods for CM and some barely-known public mods. Spoucy’s name comes from the phrase “Spoutcraft with saucy additions”. Together, they bring Spoutcraft functionality to CraftMine. This means that if you want a plain vanilla CraftMine server, you can still do that - but if you want to run a CraftMine server with additional mods like Thaumcraft for example, you can now do that without needing people to download a different modpack nor needing to reobtain permission for every mod in CM and probably illegally redistribute CM. This is HUGE for server owners!

This is the first draft of this announcement. Functionality mentioned here may be inaccurate, incomplete or still in development. This feature is targeted to be released with CMv4.2 coming later this year

Development of Swift is underway and will initially be a more simplified version of the earlier idea. Instead of rewriting the rendering engine entirely, it will instead add adaptive graphics support for per-device/device-specific optimisations.

What adaptive graphics does is automatically adjust your graphics settings depending on your current average framerate to provide the best possible visuals without any lag. This also can provide better performance than if someone manually adjusted their video settings - as not all scenes will provide the same complexity - some areas might be a busy built-up town with lots of stuff to render, other areas might be a nearly empty world like a spleef minigame for example. With Swift, when you join that spleef minigame and get insanely high framerates beyond what your monitor can provide, Swift automatically increases your settings so the game looks better while still being as smooth as your monitor permits. When you enter that busy town, Swift’ll detect that you’re lagging and will automatically turn settings down in a conservative manner, in an attempt to improve performance without downgrading the visuals too noticeably.

Additionally, Swift will notify you if it detects that you’re still lagging after it tries everything it can to improve performance, giving you advice on what other things you could do to improve performance that are out of Swift’s reach (e.g. it might recommend you to get a better graphics card, or switch from integrated to dedicated graphics, or it might recommend that you close anything else you have open that’s CPU-intensive like Google Chrome, or to update your drivers and how to do so, etc…)

Nobody likes lag - that’s why I’m going to show you how to stop it, or at least reduce it! :)

      Knowing the causes of lag

It’s important to know what is the cause of your lag, as there could be various factors that determine the game’s performance. Knowing the cause will make it easier to fix it.

      The main causes are:

Outdated Java version Incorrect Java architecture (e.g. using 32bit Java on a 64bit computer) The video settings are too high for your computer to handle Slow/old graphics card or using Intel integrated graphics (such as Intel HD graphics) Slow CPU

      .
The following claims that also affect performance are incorrect/invalid:

Slow or small amounts of RAM (the speed of your RAM does not make your game any faster, as many independant studies have shown - even 1600Mhz RAM is more than fast enough for the best consumer grade CPUs out there. However, faster RAM will make a small difference if you’re using integrated graphics such as Intel HD or an AMD APU. The amount of RAM installed on your PC does not improve performance either - you likely won’t notice any performance improvement at all when comparing 4GB with 64GB.) Storage speed (having a faster hard drive RPM speed or an SSD makes absolutely no difference to your FPS. It only speeds up load times when launching the game. Once the game’s loaded, it’s stored in the RAM and therefore the hard drive/SSD is unused whilst the game is launched) Get the latest 64bit Java

If your PC was made after 2007, it supports 64bit. Obviously, if you put 32bit Java on it, it can’t make use of the full potential of your computer and as a result, you will get significantly worse performance and you won’t be able to allocate more than 1GB of RAM to Java games and apps, even if your PC has more than 1GB of RAM free/available.

Also, if you are using an outdated Java version, you won’t be able to make use of the latest optimisations and performance improvements in the latest Java.

Here’s how you get the latest 64bit Java:

First, uninstall ALL versions of Java currently on your computer, so that they won’t conflict when you put the newer Java version on later. Restart your computer once you have removed and uninstalled all versions to make sure they fully uninstall Go to this page and download and install “Windows Offline (64-bit)”. That link will give you the latest 64bit version of Java.

      And that’s it! :)

      Get your settings right

If you have a computer that can’t handle the default settings in a game or you turn up the settings higher than your computer can handle, you will lag. Manually changing advanced video settings in CraftMine is generally a bad idea if you don’t know in-depth what each setting does, as lots have different effects and some are specifically set as they are to help prevent graphical glitches.

First, and the easiest way to help improve performance in-game is by typing /profile load Fast ingame. This’ll load the fast preset, which’ll improve performance at the cost of slightly worse visuals. To reset all video settings to their defaults, type /profile load Defaults .

Get the edition of CraftMine tailored to your computer

If you’re still lagging, try switching to the “Light” edition of CraftMine. This edition is the same as normal CraftMine, and all editions of CM are cross-compatible. The Light edition is especially designed for slower or older PCs, or non-gaming laptops/tablets. Just switching to the Light edition alone will significantly improve performance.

If even after switching to the Light edition of CM you’re still lagging, you can try typing /profile load Fastest whilst ingame on the light edition to squeeze out the maximum performance possible. This is the fastest the game can possibly run whilst still being cross-compatible with other editions.

Upgrade your graphics card or integrated graphics unit

First, I’ll talk about how to upgrade a graphics card. Then I’ll talk about integrated graphics.

      Discrete Graphics card

An outdated graphics card such as an Nvidia GT or ATI card will significantly bottleneck performance, no matter how good everything else in your computer is. The same goes for budget/slow graphics cards.

Upgrading your graphics card will help a lot, but that doesn’t mean you have to splash out and spend a fortune on an upgrade. An AMD Radeon R7 370 or Nvidia GTX 750 will suffice if you’ve got a tight budget, but if you’re willing to spend more, do. The more you spend, the better the graphics card you’ll get. It doesn’t really matter too much if you go with either Nvidia or AMD as they’re both decent, but from experience I tend to find AMD is better value for money.

Currently I have a Sapphire Nitro AMD R9 280X GPU and it’s fantastic, easily getting around 70-80fps on default settings in CM standard edition with my CPU being the bottleneck (I need to upgrade my CPU or get a better cooler, as I’m certain when I do that my FPS will be higher with the same graphics card).

      Integrated graphics unit

If you have an Intel HD or Intel Iris you can’t really upgrade it as it’s part of the CPU. I would recommend getting an AMD A8 or AMD A10 APU if possible if you have a laptop that you game on and aren’t pleased with the performance. AMD APUs tend to be slightly slower than an equivalent Intel CPU, but AMD’s integrated graphics performance is in an entirely different league and is miles ahead of Intel in the graphics department.

If you have a desktop and are currently using the built-in integrated graphics on the motherboard or CPU, buy a discrete graphics card using the instructions above and turn off the integrated one. Most integrated graphics on a desktop tend to just be for those wanting to watch videos and not much else, they’re not designed to handle games at all.

And finally… upgrade your CPU (desktops only)

Minecraft modpacks are pretty CPU intensive. Although this isn’t so much the case with CM because of the kind of special optimisations it has, it’s still fairly CPU intensive.

No matter how good everything else in your PC is, if you have a slow CPU it’ll be bottlenecking your performance. Please, don’t buy a cheap Intel Atom, Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium or Intel Core i3 processor for gaming on your desktop. Don’t bother. They’re not great value for money and they’re definately not designed for gaming. If you have a really tight budget for your processor, go with AMD. AMD may not make the fastest processors out there but I guarantee you they’re much better value for money. An AMD CPU costing you £80 would probably be the equivalent performance to an Intel CPU costing you £130.

If you’re willing to spend more on a CPU upgrade, great! A 5th or 6th generation Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 would be fantastic. If you’re an AMD guy, an AMD FX 8370 or AMD FX 9590 would be roughly around the Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 equivalents, respectively.

How do I find out crafting recipes in CraftMine?

Unlike most modpacks, CraftMine does not have NEI. NEI is not included in CraftMine because it usually looks messy in the inventory screen and is laggy, as it requires all items, blocks, etc… to be rendered every single time the inventory is opened. This can cause lag spikes on inventory opening in CM because of the amount of custom models and animated content in the pack.

Instead, CraftMine comes with a handy little mod called “CraftGuide”. It is very efficient and therefore doesn’t decrease performance at all, has its own dedicated UI so it doesn’t make your inventory screen look messy, plus it has features NEI lacks.

Search recipes by pressing ‘G’ whilst ingame to bring up CraftGuide then click “Set item” to search recipes. You may need to click “text search” in the results if you don’t find what you want.

      .

Press ‘G’ whilst hovering over an item in your inventory or container to view its crafting recipe (if any)
