Due to another mistake on our side the TS3 server has again been unreachable for about 11.5 hours. From 05:12 - 15:38 (09.01.2019). We sincerely apologize for that fail on our side and have fixed the issue causing this mishap.

Technically interested?

The technical reason was us running two separate instances of our TS3 server simultaneously. After the ISP went down (Vodafone) we were forced to migrate our TS3 server onto our core infrastructure at Hetzner Germany (uploading the files via slow 4G). The migration went well and we were back up running in less than an hour. As clients use a domain name to connect to our TS3 server we kept the ‘old’ TS3 server running at the old location/ISP with a message pointing towards the correct IP (just in case someones DNS (servers) cached our domain too long (ts.unitedworldminers.com)).

This is where we failed: The ‘old’ Teamspeak server still used the same license as the Teamspeak server at the new location. Our license allows us to run one single instance of Teamspeak on one IP, not two. Teamspeak periodically checks if there are servers breaking with their licenses and stops all additional instances to avoid multi-using one license (which is completely legitimate of them to do!).

This is what happens if your ISP goes down in the middle of the night and you start doing some quick and dirty workarounds, forgetting to remove your license from the old TS3 instance…

Time of incident: 09.01.2019, ~01:06 - 02:12

Due to a major issue with our internet service provider our Teamspeak 3 server has been down for about an hour.
We have taken counteraction and migrated our TS3 server onto our core infrastructure at Hetzner Germany, back into a datacenter.

We apologize for the downtime. The action we have taken will prevent future issues.

No other services have been affected by this outage.

So after about “half a decade” we finally managed to update the Modern Millenaire modpack!

Changelog:

• Fixing multiplayers issues with Millenaire mod (it works now, finally!)
• New main menu
• Minor changes

Open TechnicLauncher and start Modern Millenaire to get the latest version.

Hey there,

as announced before we have reset our Novus Remix servers. The reason for this was the servers starting to lag more and more due to the fact that the worlds were open for thousands of players since November 2016. So people build their awesome tech setups which obviously took a lot of the servers performance.

After the reset of the main world as well as Nether, End, Twilight Forest, Farmworld […] everything should be running smooth and fine again for some time.

We also reduced the number of Novus Remix servers down to one. Why? Simply because the lack of interest and the number of active players dropping each week.

We wish you lots of fun with the freshly reset server.

Hello there,

due to lack of interest in the Novus Remix Alpha server we think about closing it.

We plan to do this to be able to concentrate our efforts on the Novus Remix Bravo server.

We have done a few little changes to the forums and servers:

• @Paint_Ninja has added some effects so we all can get into winter mood :snowflake: :snowman2:, sitting with hot coffee or chocalate inside watching the elemets outside :coffee:, thanks for that!
• I have removed Service Requests and General Feedback sections from the forums as they were barely used and should be replaced with a new concept :thinking:
• Few little changes to server configurations including adding 2 GB more to the Modern Millenaire server (which should run smooth by now).

So what is still due:

• Novus Remix farm world reset
• Novus Remix adding the Osmium fix (I need some more reports on the fact: Is there really no / too little Osmium or is it enough?)
• Updating the custom server package for Steve’s Adventure Craft
• Updating the custom server package for Modern Millenaire
• Get some Christmas event ready @Global-Moderators :grey_question:

Hey there @Novus players

many of you complained about Osmium not spawning. Sadly this is a known bug of Mekanism.

Thanks to @PixL0r we are finally close to a fix! Thank you very much @PixL0r for this tip and your help :cookie:

We will need to do some more testing, see the attached screenshots, 96 Osmium Ore in a radius of 10. :ok_hand:

Both Novus servers are back up running. Last night some Minecraft server on that same Node (which hosts a few of our Minecraft servers) has been going steep and ramped up its memory and CPU usage way beyond its limits.

We resolved this issue and went back to normal service.

The total downtime has been about three hours. Unfortunately, it happened while the whole team was asleep.

Keep in mind we (the team) lives in the Central European Timezone (CET).

For everyone out there, have a nice weekend and let us know if there is still something broken!

We know the last update for our Novus Bevo Modpack was about three days ago but we already got the next update ready for you :slight_smile: With this update add the few missing mods into our pack which are in the official Novus Bevo pack by the group of German YouTubers which they have just released.

This update will add the following mods:

• Biomes O’ Plenty (Client side only because of performance)
• Crafting Pillars
• INpureCore
• Dimensional Anchors (Client only because of performance)
• The Elysium (Client only because of performance)

Well the cable thing might sound hilarious but solved like 40% of all IT issues I face with my circle of people :smirk:

Yes we are back after 12 hours of downtime!

Unfortunately because of a ‘simple’ scheduled root server reboot we ran into a severe hardware fault which was resolved after technicians in the server farm replaced our whole hardware completely twice, last night.

More info’s will follow, we are currently in the process of restoring all services.

We apologize for all inconvinience and work hard on resolving issues as fast as possible.

Getting closer to finishing the maintenance :fast_forward:

With this newsletter, we want to get you all informed about what has been happening and what is upcoming!

First of all, we have been doing loads of migration work in the background, as we are in the process of replacing one of our slower servers with a shiny new one featuring SSD storage to improve performance.

We did our best to avoid greater downtimes and you should not have noticed it too much. We have not yet completed the migration but expect to do so until Sunday this week (04.09.2016).

The migration process will include moving our Novus Bevo Bravo server to our new host, this will result in a short downtime. We will announce this separately to the affected group of players.

The next thing is our annual Teamspeak server license renewal, you can read more about this here .

The long-awaited farm // nether // end reset is also upcoming, the date can be found in the forums . Make sure to gather all your items from this world!

We know it has been some time since we worked on the Steve’s Adventure Craft server and modpack, we sincerely apologize for the delay.

Unfortunately all our team members have been busy over the past month. But we have not forgotten this server and got an update ready for release!

We are also looking forward to Halloween. So stay tuned for an event! :)
